The International Day for Biodiversity

The International Day for Biodiversity is celebrated every year on the 22nd of May and coordinated by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), as part of the United Nations Environment Programme. The theme for this year is ' Be part of the plan' Namibia will commemorate this event on the 22nd of May 2024 in Lüderitz, which is in the Karas region. As a build-up to the main event, the EduVentures team in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment Forestry and Tourism ( MEFT) supported by the CCIU-EU project embarked two days before the main event to create awareness around the topic of Biodiversity.

We visited the following schools in Lüderitz:

  • Diaz Primary School
  • Helene Van Rhijn Primary School
  • Bright start Primary School
  • Nautilus Primary School

15 learners from 3 different schools are currently being prepared to entertain the audience at the main event (22 May 2024)
