EduVentures and NamTip
EduVentures has played a pivotal role in the NamTip project by raising awareness about desertification tipping points through hands-on education and research. In Phase I, it developed four educational modules addressing drought, termites, and pests, which were reviewed by NamTip scientists and delivered to 500 learners and teachers from five schools in the Greater Waterberg Region using the Ombombo Mobile Classroom. Phase II expanded the effort with school visits and a research camp, where 20 selected learners received training in scientific methods and collaborated with scientists on projects comparing ecological and social aspects of desertification. These learners presented their findings at a regional science fair, earning a silver medal for one project, and will continue sharing their work at public events to enhance environmental awareness. The project fostered deep collaboration between learners and scientists, providing practical experience and inspiring a sense of scientific curiosity among students.
